Action Options in the Educational Sphere
- Are you a teacher or a
principal? Does your community sponsor a school or other educational
program? Do you have children attending school? Integrate programs into
schools to teach economic justice and gender justice.
Individually,
or through parish or church organizations, make sure that gender relations
and gender analysis is included in the curriculum. This is an academic
discipline that can be included in social studies, theology, justice and
peace studies, as well as economic studies. Encourage your children to take
such courses...and tell them why.
Combat the "sin
of ignorance." Sponsor, support, and attend community awareness programs
that increase social consciousness. Seek sponsorship or collaborate with
parish, church, non-profit, diocesan, or other communities committed to
issues of social justice.
