Can you help?
We need CYBER-VOLUNTEERS to support this website! It's easy- and it's a critical contribution as we build the New Underground Railroad!
SEEKING:
Volunteers (3-7 hours per month) to assist with gathering media and news coverage on human trafficking in English language media around the world.
Volunteer will use search engines and/or Google Alerts to find electronic articles on human trafficking and slavery in news media nationally and internationally.
Volunteer will screen articles and select those to post to the "In the News" page of this website. http://www.sdssisters.org/slavery/InTheNews.htm
Volunteer will select ten to thirty links per month, and will also help to test and cull ten to thirty links posted by other volunteers.
Skills needed:
Ability to read/comprehend English language. Ability to use search engines. Ability to sign up for/receive Google Alerts on human trafficking. Ability to read and screen articles for national/international relevance. Ability to use MS Word or another word processor which can save "live links" to prepare a list of article recommendations at the end of each month. Ability to meet monthly submission deadline.
How does this help?
"Invisibility" remains a key cause of the continuation and growth of human trafficking and slavery. By assisting in this project, which aggregates news from around the world and places it on a web portal, you will be directly addressing the challenge of increasing awareness of the reality of human trafficking and slavery. You will be helping to build awareness that human slavery is happening right now, and often right near by.
Next Steps:
Is this something you'd like to try? Your volunteer work will make a difference in the fight for abolition of human slavery.
