Sister
Ellen, an attorney, holds a position
with the Tribunal of the Diocese of Phoenix
in Arizona. Sister Ellen lives in the Sisters'
Elm Street community in Phoenix.
"As an advocate on the
Tribunal, I assist former spouses in the
processing of marriage declaration of invalidity
cases. I explain the process to them, take
their testimony, and advocate their position
concerning the validity of their marriage. I
also conduct in-depth interviews of the
petitioners and respondents when necessary. This
work on the Tribunal is important because it
helps many of those working through the
invalidity process to put closure on this part
of their lives."
Prior to joining the
Sisters of the Divine Savior, Sister Ellen had
served as defense counsel, legal assistance
attorney, and administrative law officer for the
U.S. Army in Missouri, Illinois, and Korea.
She also has experience working in legal offices
for the Federal Government, the University of
Wisconsin - Milwaukee, and Legal Aid. During her
discernment, Sister Ellen had looked at a
variety of religious communities. She was drawn
to the Salvatorians because of the mission to
make a loving God known by all ways and means.
She also was attracted to the Congregation's
internationality and strong collaboration with
the SDS Priests, Brothers, and Lay members.
